USS UTAH ASSOCIATION 2003 REUNION
Our 2003 reunion, held at the Ramada-Express in Laughlin, NV, May 14-17 is now history. A truly great time was had by all. In addition to Pearl Harbor Survivors, we had a total of 50 Family members, and "Friends of the Utah" in attendance.
A very special thanks to our 'hostest with the mostest" Mary Kreigh, "First Daughter" of the USS Utah Association for all her endeavors - the "USS Utah Gifts" and many, many other efforts she made to insure that everyone had a most enjoyable time. A well deserved certificate of appreciation was presented to Mary.
We would like to extend our appreciation to those listed below as well as to the hotel management and staff who made us feel welcome and appreciated:
Kate Gilman
Larry Waldon
Loraine Waldon
Helen Thys
Mary has volunteered to host next year's reunion "Same Place" May 11-14- 2004. Is that "taking care of business" or what!
Officers elected for the next year:
David Smith, President
Henry West, Vice President
Warren Upton, Secretary-Treasurer
Mary Kreigh, Public Relations Director
Bill Hughes, Webmaster
We were again honored by the presence of the only two living Officer survivors from the USS UTAH; Ensigns Tom Anderson and Al Hewitt. Anderson assumed his post as "Officer of the Deck" about 5 minutes before the Japanese attack. His verbal remembrances of the attack is indeed riveting.
